‘American institutions have for their foundation reverence for God.’- Pres. Calvin Coolidge via American Minute
by Bill Federer
On SEPTEMBER 21, 1924, America’s 30th President, Calvin Coolidge, addressed the Holy Name Society in Washington, D.C., saying:
“The worst evil that could be inflicted upon the youth of the land would be to leave them without restraint and completely at the mercy of their own uncontrolled inclinations.
Under such conditions education would be impossible, and all orderly development intellectually or morally would be hopeless.”
Calvin Coolidge continued:
“The Declaration of Independence…claims…the ultimate source of authority by stating…they were… ‘appealing to the Supreme Judge of the World for the rectitude of’ their ‘intentions.’…
The foundations of our independence and our Government rests upon basic religious convictions.
Back of the authority of our laws is the authority of the Supreme Judge of the World, to whom we still appeal.”
President Calvin Coolidge concluded:
“It seems to me perfectly plain that the authority of law, the right to equality, liberty and property, under American institutions, have for their foundation reverence for God.
If we could imagine that to be swept away, these institutions of our American government could not long survive.”
Chief Justice of New York’s Supreme Court, James Kent, compiledCommentaries on American Law, 1826-30, and wrote in the case People v. Ruggles, 1811:
“Christianity was parcel of the law, and to cast contumelious reproaches upon it, tended to weaken the foundation of moral obligation, and the efficacy of oaths…
Whatever strikes at the root of Christianity tends manifestly to the dissolution of civil government…”
Chief Justice Kent continued:
“The authorities show that blasphemy against God and…profane ridicule of Christ or the Holy Scriptures…are offenses punishable at common law, whether uttered by words or writings…because it tends to corrupt the morals of the people, and to destroy good order…
The people of this State, in common with the people of this country, profess the general doctrines of Christianity, as the rule of their faith and practice;
and to scandalize the author of these doctrines is not only…impious, but…is a gross violation of decency and good order…”
Chief Justice Kent concluded:
“Nothing could be more injurious to the tender morals of the young, than to declare such profanity lawful…
The free, equal, and undisturbed enjoyment of religious opinion, whatever it may be, and free and decent discussions on any religious subject, is granted and secured; but to revile…the religion professed by almost the whole community, is an abuse of that right.”
Commander-in-Chief George Washington appointed Lafayette a Major General in the Continental Army, though Lafayette paid his own expenses.
Lafayette endured the freezing winter at Valley Forge, was wounded at Brandywine, and fought with distinction at the Battles of Gloucester, Barren Hill, Monmouth, Rhode Island and Green Spring.
Returning to France, Lafayette worked with Ben Franklin to persuade King Louis XVI to send General Rochambeau with ships and 6,000 French soldiers to America’s aid.
Lafayette then led troops against the traitor Benedict Arnold, and commanded at Yorktown, helping to pressure Cornwallis to surrender.
George Washington considered Lafayette like a son, and belatedly wrote back to him from Mount Vernon, June 25, 1785:
“My Dear Marquis…I stand before you as a culprit: but to repent and be forgiven are the precepts of Heaven: I do the former, do you practice the latter, and it will be participation of a divine attribute.
Yet I am not barren of excuses for this seeming inattention; frequent absences from home, a round of company when at it, and the pressure of many matters, might be urged as apologies for my long silence…
I now congratulate you, and my heart does it more effectually than my pen, on your safe arrival in Paris, from your voyage to this Country.”
Lafayette joined the French abolitionist Society of the Friends of the Blacks, which advocated the end of the slave trade and equal rights for blacks.
On May 10, 1786, George Washington wrote from Mount Vernon to Marquis de Lafayette:
“Your late purchase of an estate in the colony of Cayenne, with a view of emancipating the slaves on it, is a generous and noble proof of your humanity. Would to God a like spirit would diffuse itself generally into the minds of the people of this country.”
On August 15, 1787, in a letter from Philadelphia to the Marquis de Lafayette, George Washington wrote:
“I am not less ardent in my wish that you may succeed in your plan of toleration in religious matters. Being no bigot myself to any mode of worship, I am disposed to indulge the professors of Christianity in the church with that road to Heaven which to them shall seem the most direct, plainest and easiest, and the least liable to exception.”
On May 28, 1788, George Washington wrote to Marquis de Lafayette regarding the U.S. Constitution:
“A few short weeks will determine the political fate of America…I will confess to you sincerely, my dear Marquis; it will be so much beyond any thing we had a right to imagine or expect eighteen months ago, that it will demonstrate as visibly the Finger of Providence, as any possible event in the course of human affairs can ever designate it.”
When the French Revolution began, President Washington wrote to Marquis de Lafayette, July 28, 1791:
“I assure you I have often contemplated, with great anxiety, the danger to which you are personally exposed…
To a philanthropic mind the happiness of 24 millions of people cannot be indifferent; and by an American, whose country in the hour of distress received such liberal aid from the French, the disorders and incertitude of that Nation are to be particularly lamented.
We must, however, place a confidence in that Providence who rules great events, trusting that out of confusion He will produce order, and, notwithstanding the dark clouds which may threaten at present, that right will ultimately be established….”
Washington continued to Lafayette:
“On the 6 of this month I returned from a tour through the southern States, which had employed me for more than three months.
In the course of this journey I have been highly gratified in observing the flourishing state of the Country, and the good dispositions of the people.
Industry and economy have become very fashionable in these parts, which were formerly noted for the opposite qualities, and the labors of man are assisted by the Blessings of Providence.”
Lafayette tried to maintain order in France as the French Revolution began, but fell out of favor. He was eventually imprisoned for five years, with his wife and two daughters choosing to be imprisoned with him. Napoleon negotiated his release.
On June 10, 1792, from Philadelphia, President Washington wrote to Marquis de Lafayette:
“And to the Care of that Providence, whose interposition and protection we have so often experienced, do I cheerfully commit you and your nation, trusting that He will bring order out of confusion, and finally place things upon the ground on which they ought to stand.”
Jefferson asked him to be the Governor of the Louisiana Territory, but he declined.
Fifty years after the Revolution began, Marquis de Lafayette visited America. He traveled over 6,000 miles to 24 States.
On June 17, 1825, the cornerstone for the Bunker Hill Monument was laid. Daniel Webster spoke to a crowd of 20,000, which included General Marquis de Lafayette:
“God has granted you this sight of your country’s happiness ere you slumber in the grave forever. He has allowed you to behold and to partake the reward of your patriotic toils; and He has allowed to us, your sons and countrymen, to meet you here, and in the name of the present generation, in the name of your country, in the name of liberty to thank you!”
Many ships, streets, parks and cities were named after him, including Fayetteville, North Carolina.
When word came to America that Marquis de Lafayette had died, President Andrew Jackson wrote to Congress, June 21, 1834:
“The afflicting intelligence of the death of the illustrious Lafayette has been received by me this morning.
I have issued the general order inclosed to cause appropriate honors to be paid by the Army and Navy to the memory of one so highly venerated and beloved by my countrymen, and whom Providence has been pleased to remove so unexpectedly from the agitating scenes of life.”

My friend and fellow followers of Christ, for years we have had those that don’t share our values trying to tell our children that we are the ones that are wrong, they are going about it in an even more insidious way and we need to be aware of it so that we can stop it. Please read and pass this around so that we can prevent more children and parents from experiencing what Susan has. And so that we know what is being told to our children and done to them behind our backs. God bless!
Beware of your Pediatrician & School Counselors, Americans!
Sounds crazy, right? But it’s not. Many pediatricians have become Progressive activists. How many of you are being groomed by these political agents? Let me describe the grooming process: when your child is about 8 or nine, the pediatrician starts introducing the idea that at some time in the near future, they will want to spend time alone with your child- to get them ready for the time when they first go to a doctor on their own, without their parents. Sounds cozy, huh? A pediatrician that cares so much about your kid that they want to help ease them into their first, adult solo physical checkup.
Then, at around 11 years old, the pediatrician will actually ask the parent to step out of the room ‘for a few minutes’. Then at around 12, the pediatrician will tell you that you must leave the room when the kid is 13 years old. MY pediatrician just blatantly LIED to me and told me that Washington State Law demands that I leave the room.
Now, Parents, I can tell you that I always told my pediatricians, “No. That will not happen with my daughter. I will be here to ensure that she is ok. “ They always were annoyed, but left it be. I have a new pediatrician who just told me that I MUST leave the room when my daughter turns 13- which will happen in August. I was enraged. I told her that this would never happen. Further, I asked her why she & other pediatricians kept demanding this. Please read the rest of Short Little Rebels post and experience with this at her site: Short Little Rebel
The English language has some wonderfully anthropomorphic collective
nouns for the various groups of animals.
However, less widely known is a Pride of lions, a Murder of crows (as well
as their cousins the rooks and ravens), an Exaltation of doves and,
presumably because they look so wise, a Parliament of owls.
Now consider a group of Baboons. They are the loudest, most dangerous, most
obnoxious, most viciously aggressive and least intelligent of all primates.
And what is the proper collective noun for a group of baboons?
Believe it or not …… a Congress!
I guess that pretty much explains the things that come out of Washington

Earlier this week, I came across an article that has since become viral.
Appropriately called “Brick Walls”, it chronicles the journey of two young parents as they try to vie for a kidney transplant for their mentally handicapped young daughter, Amelia. Written by Amelia’s mother, the article is written with the perfect balance of vulnerability, strength, and passion for her daughter as she graciously allows us to enter into an incredibly private portion of their lives.
The gist of the story lies here: Amelia needs a kidney transplant to survive but is denied one because of her disability. In the article, her mother describes in detail the agonizing wait for the doctor, the words “Mentally Retarded” and “Brain Damage” in bright pink highlighter on Amelia’s medical papers, and, later, her own impassioned plea to Amelia’s doctor to rethink the death wish he had just stamped on her little girl.
All because Amelia learns differently than most people.
Coming from a standpoint where I am both blessed and pained to see personal accounts from inside the pro-life movement, I’m shocked and enraged by this story. I want to grab the doctor by the shoulders and shake sense into him. I want him and everyone else who thinks that persons with mental or physical handicaps are somehow a lesser degree of a person to wake up and realize how jaded they are.
But this is also not the first time I and many others have heard a story like this. And that’s what angers me the most. Read the rest at Life News.com

Frederick the Great of Prussia called these ten days “the most brilliant in the world’s history.” After winning the Battle of Trenton, Christmas night, George Washington’s small force met General Cornwallis‘ 8,000 man British army. The night before the battle, Washington left his campfires burning and silently marched his soldiers around the back of the British camp at Princeton, New Jersey. At daybreak, JANUARY 3, 1777, Washington attacked, capturing three regiments of British troops. Enthusiasm swept America. Yale President Ezra Stiles stated in an Election Address before the Governor and General Assembly of Connecticut: “In our lowest and most dangerous state, in 1776 and 1777, we sustained ourselves against the British Army of 60,000 troops, commanded by…the ablest generals Britain could procure throughout Europe, with a naval force of 22,000 seamen in above 80 men-of-war. Who but a Washington, inspired by Heaven, could have conceived the surprise move upon the enemy at Princeton-or that Christmas eve when Washington and his army crossed the Delaware?” Ezra Stiles concluded: “The United States are under peculiar obligations to become a holy people unto the Lord our God.”
The first six months of the Revolutionary War saw the Continental Army chased from New York, New Jersey and into Pennsylvania. Ranks dwindled from 20,000 to 2,000 exhausted soldiers – most leaving at year’s end when their six-month enlistment was up. Expecting British invasion, the Continental Congress fled Philadelphia and sent the word “until Congress shall otherwise order, General Washington be possessed of full power to order and direct all things.” In an operation with the password “Victory or Death,” Washington’s troops crossed the ice-filled Delaware River at midnight Christmas Day. Trudging in a blinding blizzard, with one soldier freezing to death, they attacked the feared Hessian troops in Trenton, New Jersey, at daybreak DECEMBER 26, 1776, capturing nearly a thousand soldiers in just over an hour. Some Americans were shot, including James Monroe, the future 5th President. General Washington wrote August 20, 1778: “The Hand of Providence has been so conspicuous in all this – the course of the war – that he must be worse than an infidel that lacks faith, and more wicked that has not gratitude to acknowledge his obligations; but it will be time enough for me to turn Preacher when my present appointment ceases.”
A week after Congress approved the First Amendment, President George Washington issued the first National Thanksgiving Proclamation, 1789: “Whereas both Houses of Congress have by their joint Committee requested me ‘to recommend to the People of the United States a day of public thanksgiving and prayer to be observed by acknowledging with grateful hearts the many signal favors of Almighty God, especially by affording them an opportunity peaceably to establish a form of government for their safety and happiness;’” Washington continued: “Now, therefore, I do recommend…Thursday, the 26TH DAY of NOVEMBER…to be devoted by the People of these United States to the service of that great and glorious Being, who is the beneficent Author of all the good that was, that is, or that will be;” Washington concluded: “That we may then all unite in rendering unto Him our sincere and humble thanks…for the peaceable and rational manner in which we have been enabled to establish constitutions of government… particularly the national one now lately instituted, for the civil and religious liberty with which we are blessed…to promote the knowledge and practice of true religion and virtue.”
Breaking => Revolution In Full Swing ~ ‘National County Sheriff Project’: Sheriff Richard Mack.(via Political Vel Craft)
Americans are pushing back all over the country. It is very clear a revolution is in full swing. Tea Parties have been organizing to fight the bailouts and taxation. Occupy Movements have be springing up to fight against Wall St corruption at the hands of the Federal Reserve. Americans are pulling their cash out of Big Banks and supporting local Credit unions, as we move into a heated election season where it looks like it’s anyone’s game.
In today’s exclusive special report Gary Franchi is joined by Former Graham County Sheriff Richard Mack. They discuss the County Sheriff Project, a movement that will compound the effort to push back against an over reaching Federal Government, a movement that needs your support.
Washington politicians and bureaucrats have failed to respond to the will of the American people. Despite the high turnover, of that past two elections, Washington politicians continue to trample on the rights of the people, and stay the course of tyrants.
Sheriff Mack offers a solution to the over reach of Federal Authority; that is your county sheriff. The sheriff is the highest law enforcement authority in each county. The sheriff, who upholds his oath of office, can protect the citizens, in the county, against un-lawful harassment of Federal Agents, who have no Constitutional Authority outside of Federal property, their jurisdiction. |On NOVEMBER 9, 1954, President Eisenhower addressed the National Conference on the Spiritual Foundation of American Democracy at the Sheraton-Carlton Hotel, Washington D.C.: “Now Dr. Lowry said something about my having certain convictions as to a God in Heaven and an Almighty power. Well, I don’t think anyone needs a great deal of credit for believing in what seems to me to be obvious…This relationship between a spiritual faith…and our form of government is…so obvious that we should really not need to identify a man as unusual because he recognizes it.” Eisenhower continued “Our whole theory of government finally expressed in our Declaration…said…Man is endowed by his Creator…When you come back to it, there is just one thing…that a man is worthwhile because he was born in the image of his God…Democracy is nothing in the world but a spiritual conviction…that each of us is enormously valuable, because of a certain standing before our own God.” Eisenhower concluded: “Any group that…awakens all of us to these simple things…is, in my mind, a dedicated, patriotic group that can well take the Bible in one hand and the flag in the other, and march ahead.”|
On NOVEMBER 1, 1800, John Adams became the first U.S. President to move into the White House. The following day he wrote a letter to his wife, Abigail, in which he composed a beautiful prayer. A portion of that prayer was inscribed on the mantlepiece in the State Dining Room by President Franklin D. Roosevelt. It reads: “I pray Heaven to bestow the best of blessings on this house and all that shall hereafter inhabit it. May none but honest and wise men ever rule under this roof.” The first building constructed on Lafayette Square after the White House was St. John’s Episcopal Church. Because every President since James Madison worshipped there at some time, Pew 54 has been designated as the traditional seat for the First Family. Other historic Washington, D.C. area churches where Presidents worshipped include Christ Church in Alexandria, where President Washington attended; the National Presbyterian Church; the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church, where President Lincoln attended and where Senate Chaplain Peter Marshall pastored from 1937-1949; and Holy Trinity Catholic Church, where John F. Kennedy attended.

Another day, Another democrat blocks jobs and wealth in America…
Liberal Democrat Maria Cantwell (D-WA) is wanting to block a mining project in Alaska because it might possibly affect the salmon population in Washington.
Kevin Aylward at Wizbang reported:
Senator Maria Cantewll (D-WA) is asking the EPA to kill a large mining project because there is a slight possibility that it could affect salmon in her state. Sen. Cantwell’s fish are more important than creating all of the jobs that would go with mining one of the world’s largest gold and copper deposits. From the Alaska Daily News:
Congress members now dueling over Pebble prospect
MINE: Washington’s Cantwell fears for salmon; Alaska’s Young sees jobs.
Fearing that toxic wastes from the mine could hurt the wild salmon population in her home state, Washington Democratic Sen. Maria Cantwell intends to enter the fray today. She plans to ask the head of the Environmental Protection Agency to consider using the Clean Water Act — if necessary — to stop the proposed Pebble Mine project in the headwaters of Bristol Bay .
