Press Release from The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association on the 2nd Amendment

“The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association supports the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment rights of our citizens’. We recognize the recent increase in violence and mass shootings have raised questions relating to the sale and possession of firearms. The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association further believes that we must hold offenders responsible, not law abiding citizens.

The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association does support enforcement of the existing gun laws and the strengthening of current back ground checks including identifying individuals with mental health issues. The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association does not support legislation that restricts current gun possession or sales to our citizens that weakens our 2nd Amendment rights.

Thanks to Johnson County Sheriff, Jim Dorney, for the heads up!

Will Obama strip gunwalking prohibition and add anti-gun provisions to budget? (via Examiner.com)

By

Is the president cooking the books for gun control?

“Sneaky White House budget provisions undermine the Second Amendment,” Emily Miller of The Washington Times reported yesterday.

“In November, the president signed the Justice Department appropriations bill, which included language… prohibiting federal agencies from facilitating the transfer of an operable firearm to an individual known or suspected to be in a drug cartel, unless they monitor the weapon at all times,” Miller writes.

“Now Mr. Obama is proposing to remove that provision from the 2013 spending bill, thus making it legal to revive gun-walking operations in the future” she reports.

That the administration claims the provision is “not needed” is hardly credible, and to do so under the rationale of “complete confidence” in Attorney General Eric Holder’s Justice Department appears to be a slap in the face not only to Congressional investigators, but to all interested in holding those responsible for gun walking accountable.

The ATF has just released a brazen new policy, aggressively using something unpopular with many conservatives to further their aims to disarm Americans.

A September 21st letter sent by the ATF to Firearms dealers in states that allow medical marijuana says they can’t sell guns or ammunition to registered users of the drug, a policy that marijuana and gun-rights groups say denies Second Amendment rights to individuals who are following state law.

“There are no exceptions in federal law for marijuana purportedly used for medicinal purposes, even if such use is sanctioned by state law,” said the letter by Arthur Herbert, the ATF’s assistant director for enforcement programs and services.

Our position? There are no exceptions in the 2nd Amendment. Period. And, there are no exceptions to the fact that the ATF is not authorized to make law, just state their opinion.

We’ll be discussing this with a number of experts on the October 12th episode of TRX: Tenther Radio.

Sarah Palin, Smarter Than The Journalists

Statue of Paul Revere by Cyrus E. Dallin, in t...

Image via Wikipedia

Hilarious! Once again Sarah Palin is right, journalists are wrong. You’d think by now that they would bother to check their facts, but Oh No, not them, too much work! So they get that facts wrong and people see that Sarah is smarter than you average bear, while they spend time making excuses for why they didn’t get it right. Once might have be luck, but the luck theory starts to get old when she does it again and again. Wise up Journalists, do your job, check facts and quit believing your hype that Sarah Palin is stupid and you are smart! If you had half the brains that she does, you would at the very least, check before you print!

So Now All These People Will Apologize to Sarah Palin About Paul Revere, Right?

As with most people, I simply took at face value the popular version that Paul Revere warned that the British were coming, the British were coming.

Not having any real reason to look into it any deeper, Sarah Palin’s statement that Revere warned the British that the colonial militias were waiting seemed odd.

But it appears that the popular version is not complete.

In fact, as pointed out at Conservatives4Palin, Revere did in fact tell the British that the colonial militias, who had been alerted, were waiting for them.  Here is the original historical text written by Revere (spelling in original, bold added):

I observed a Wood at a Small distance, & made for that. When I got there, out Started Six officers, on Horse back, and orderd me to dismount;-one of them, who appeared to have the command, examined me, where I came from,& what my Name Was? I told him. it was Revere, he asked if it was Paul? I told him yes He asked me if I was an express? I answered in the afirmative. He demanded what time I left Boston? I told him; and aded, that their troops had catched aground in passing the River, and that There would be five hundred Americans there in a short time, for I had alarmed the Country all the way up. He imediately rode towards those who stoppd us, when all five of them came down upon a full gallop; one of them, whom I afterwards found to be Major Mitchel, of the 5th Regiment, Clapped his pistol to my head, called me by name, & told me he was going to ask me some questions, & if I did not give him true answers, he would blow my brains out. He then asked me similar questions to those above. He then orderd me to mount my Horse, after searching me for arms

Palin’s short statement on the video was less than clear; that sometimes happens but the part of the statement which has people screaming — that Revere warned the British that the colonial militias were waiting — appears to be true.

I’ve learned something new today, about Paul Revere.

The leading lights of the left-blogosphere have made fools of themselves, as have people who are not of the left-blogosphere.  I presume they all will be apologizing. Read more atLegal Insurrection:

Why I support the ATF’s proposed restrictions on imported shotguns by Sipsey Street Irregulars (via Randy’s Right)

First page of Constitution of the United States

Image via Wikipedia

I don’t think that anyone has a right to put a limit on the rights we have in the Constitution, but the Constitution does give the government the right to limit what is imported into the country. Sometimes this is done to protect the makers of the product in this country and that is all well and good. But sometimes ability to restrict imports is used to hurt other countries, too. In this case it appears that it is being used to limit the Constitutional right to bear arms, but however it is used, it is the right of government to do so. If we try to usurp that right, what is the difference between us and what the government wants to do. Either the Constitution stands or it doesn’t.

Why I support the ATF's proposed restrictions on imported shotguns by Sipsey Street Irregulars   There’ve been a lot of upset folks lately about new proposed restrictions on imported shotguns. Here is a typical example, entitled “The ATF Wants Your Shotgun.” Now I have a slightly different take on this, so I filed my own comment to the Gunwalker agency and I provide it for your edification and amusement below. —–Original Message—– From: georgemason1776 To: shotgunstudy Cc: (To various Second Amendment activists.)
