Which Democrat President condemned Islamic terror, defended marriage, vetoed welfare, and suspended secular work to thank God…? via American Minute

Democrat President Grover Cleveland condemned Islamic terrorism committed against Armenian Christians in Turkey, December 2, 1895:”Massacres of Christians in Armenia and the development there…of a spirit of fanatic hostility to Christian influences naturally excited apprehension…
“Mad bigotry and cruel fanaticism…wanton destruction of homesand the bloody butchery of men, women, and children, made martyrs to their profession of Christian faith…
Our citizens in Turkey…in the midst of dreadful scenes of danger, their safety…is by no means assured…
I do not believe that the present somber prospect in Turkey will be long permitted to offend the sight of Christendom…
It seems hardly possible that the earnest demand of good people throughout the Christian world for its corrective treatment will remain unanswered.”
“The strength, the perpetuity, and the destiny of the nation rest upon our homes, established by the law of God, guarded by parental care, regulated by parental authority, and sanctified by parental love.
The mothers of our land, who rule the nation as they mold the characters and guide the actions of their sons, live according to God’s holy ordinances,
and each, secure and happy in the exclusive love of the father of her children, sheds the warm light of true womanhood, unperverted and unpolluted, upon all within her pure and wholesome family circle.
These are not the cheerless, crushed, and unwomanly mothers of polygamy.”
Cleveland insisted on gold-backed currency and pushed tolower taxes.
“I do not believe that the power…of the general government ought to be extended to the relief of individual suffering…
A prevalent tendency to disregard the limited mission of this power…should…be steadfastly resisted…
Though the people support the government, the government should not support the people.
Federal aid in such cases encourages the expectation of paternal care on the part of the government and weakens the sturdiness of our national character,
while it prevents…among our people of that kindly sentiment…which strengthens the bonds of a common brotherhood.”
“The goodness and the mercy of God, which have followed the American people during all the days of the past year, claim their grateful recognition and humble acknowledgment…
by His omnipotent power He has protected us from war and pestilence and from every national calamity;
by His gracious favor the earth has yielded a generous return…
by His loving kindness the hearts of our people have been replenished…and
by His unerring guidance we have been directed in the way of national prosperity.
“To the end that we may with one accord testify our gratitude for all these blessings,
I, Grover Cleveland, President of the United States, do hereby designate and set apart…a day of thanksgiving and prayer, to be observed by all the people of the land.
On that day let all secular work and employment be suspended,
and let our people assemble in their accustomed places ofworship and with prayer and songs of praise give thanks to our Heavenly Father for all that He has done for us, while we humbly implore the forgiveness of our sins and a continuance of His mercy.”

Faith Produces Humility
Where do wars and fights come from among you? Do they not come from your desires for pleasure that war in your members?
You lust and do not have. You murder and covet and cannot obtain. You fight and war. Yet you do not have because you do not ask.
You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures.
Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.
Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously”?
But He gives more than grace. Therefore He says:
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore submit to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify, you double-minded.
Lament and mourn and weep! Let your laughter be turned to mourning and your joy to gloom.
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.
Do not speak evil of one another, brethren. He who speaks evil of a brother and judges his brother, speaks evil of the law and judges the law. But if you judge the law, you are not a doer of the law but a judge.
There is one Lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy. Who are you to judge another?

ONE: Don’t miss the boat.
TWO: Remember that we are all in the same boat!
THREE: Plan ahead. It wasn’t raining when Noah built the Ark.
FOUR: Stay fit. When you’re 60 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big.
FIVE: Don’t listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done.
SIX: Build your future on high ground.
SEVEN: For safety’s sake, travel in pairs.
EIGHT: Speed isn’t always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs.
NINE: When you’re stressed, float awhile.
TEN: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals.
ELEVEN: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there’s always a rainbow waiting.
“Life is not waiting for the storms to pass…it’s learning to dance in the rain!!!”
To everyone’s surprise, all the color drained from Obama’s face. Then he collapsed onto his desk, head in his hands, visibly shaken, almost in tears.
Finally, he composed himself and asked,
‘Just how many is a brazilian?’
This is not surprising, since he obviously has no understanding of billion or trillion either.
On DECEMBER 8, 1863, President Abraham Lincoln announced his plan to accept back into the Union those who had been in the Confederacy. He wrote: “Whereas it is now desired by some persons heretofore engaged in said rebellion to resume their allegiance to the United States…Therefore, I, Abraham Lincoln, President of the United States, do proclaim, declare, and make known to all persons who have, directly or by implication, participated in the existing rebellion…that a full pardon is hereby granted to them…with restoration of all rights of property…upon the condition that every such person shall take and subscribe an oath…to wit: “I, ____, do solemnly swear, in presence of Almighty God, that I will henceforth faithfully support, protect, and defend the Constitution of the United States and the Union of the States thereunder, and that I will in like manner abide by and faithfully support all acts of Congress passed during the existing rebellion with reference to slaves…and that I will in like manner abide by and faithfully support all proclamations of the President made during the existing rebellion having reference to slaves….So help me God.”
Quoting Thomas Jefferson: “On every unauthoritative exercise of power by the legislature must the people rise in rebellion or their silence be construed into a surrender of that power.”
Excellent Read…Davy Crockett Set the Example for Shutting Down Our Government This Week (via Randy’s Right)
We are being threatened once again with a government shutdown mainly due to FEMA lack of funding. Davy Crockett was and still is an American legend. He served two non-consecutive terms in Congress and the following true story outlines the beginnings of our fiscal mismanagement. If we had learned the lesson taught to Rep. Crockett, our nation would not be morally or fiscally bankrupt.
After you read the article, you will have the answer to the following question by a farmer to Colonel Crockett.
Well, Colonel, where do you find in the Constitution any authority to give away the public money in charity?
and in brackets
After his defeat in the 1834 election he said, “I told the people of my district that I would serve them faithfully as I had done; but if not… you may all go to hell, and I will go to Texas.” He eventually did, and died on March 6, 1836, when the Alamo finally fell to Mexican troops after an 11-day siege. BY JOHN REINIERS, More Than Words
Economic growth is the mother’s milk of conservative thought. Conservatism is not an ideology. It is a philosophy. In fact it is opposed to hard line ideologies. It is a moving target because it is based on practical principles, respecting tradition but accepting change.
The ultimate in profound economic change was the Industrial Revolution, which transformed the course of human history and has morphed into the technological revolution, which ushered in economic conservatism as we know it today. An explosion in economic activity followed, resulting in the creative destruction of existing jobs. The net result was more productive jobs, as less productive jobs were destroyed. Automobile assembly lines versus wagon manufacturing, word processors versus manual typewriters, etc.
Undergirding this stunning achievement was the hallmark of conservative principles — that the notion that property rights and freedom should be inseparable in the hands of creative, entrepreneurial inventors who attract investment capital. (Turn the entrepreneur loose.) Conservatism is, and remains, all about economic growth and private sector jobs.
Command and control economies could never have inspired the Industrial Revolution. Even China has embraced market capitalism, referred to by their own communist leaders as a “socialist market economy with Chinese characteristics.” Here’s what Chinese President Hu Jintao tells his bureaucrats: “The functions of government must be separated from those of economic enterprises … Government should not intervene in economic operations.”
How about that! Economic growth with job creation. A communist ordering his government to get out of the way of business — totally antithetical to the ideology of U.S. progressive liberals. This is not meant to be a partisan slam, but rather to suggest economic policies that focus on government regulation are misguided in this global economy. Read the rest….http://mb50.wordpress.com/
The reason Politicians try so hard to get re-elected is that they would ‘hate’ to have to make a living under the laws they’ve passed. Three friends from the local congregation were asked, ‘When you’re in your casket, and friends and congregation members are mourning over you, what would you like them to say?’
Artie said: ‘ I would like them to say I was a wonderful husband, a fine spiritual leader, and a great family man.’
Smith climbs to the top of Mt.Sinai to get close enough to talk to God. Looking up, he asks the Lord… ‘God, what does a million years mean to you?’
The Lord replies, ‘A minute.’
Smith asks, ‘And what does a million dollars mean to you?’
The Lord replies, ‘A penny.’
‘Smith asks, ‘Can I have a penny?’
‘The Lord replies, ‘In a minute.’
John was on his deathbed and gasped pitifully. ‘Give me one last request, dear,’he said.
‘Of course, John,’ his wife said softly.
‘Six months after I die,’ he said, ‘I want you to marry Bob.’
‘But I thought you hated Bob,’ she said.
With his last breath John said, ‘I do!’
A man goes to see the Rabbi. ‘Rabbi, something terrible is happening and I have to talk to you about it.’
The Rabbi asked, ‘What’s wrong?’
The man replied, ‘My wife is poisoning me.’
The Rabbi, very surprised by this, asks, ‘How can that be?’
The man then pleads, ‘I’m telling you, I’m certain she’s poisoning me, what should I do?’
The Rabbi then offers, ‘Tell you what. Let me talk to her, I’ll see what I can find out and I’ll let you know.’
A week later the Rabbi calls the man and says, “I spoke to her on the phone for three hours. You want my advice?’
The man said yes and the Rabbi replied, ‘Take the poison’ All eyes were on the radiant bride as her father escorted her down the aisle. They reached the altar and the waiting groom; the bride kissed her father and placed something in his hand. The guests in the front pews responded with ripples of laughter. Even the priest smiled broadly. As her father gave her away in marriage, the bride gave him back his credit card.
Because they had no reservations at a busy restaurant, my elderly neighbor and his wife were told there would be a 45-minute wait for a table. ‘Young man, we’re both 90 years old, ‘ the husband said …’We may not have 45 minutes.’ They were seated immediately.
I was in the six-item express lane at the store quietly fuming. Completely ignoring the sign, the woman ahead of me had slipped into the check-out line pushing a cart piled high with groceries. Imagine my delight when the cashier beckoned the woman to come forward looked into the cart and asked sweetly, ‘So which six items would you like to buy?’
Wouldn’t it be great if that happened more often?
Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.
