Bicycle Missions

I posted the other day about Pastor Stephen McKay and put up a page to give you an idea of what he does and who he is. I would like to take the time today to tell you a little something about one of the things that he is raising money for. It is not for his own ministry, he has support for that, it is to help others in their ministry. He is doing that with bicycles.

Why bicycles? Pastor McKay explained it this way, last year when  was in Tanzania he discovered that the local Pastors were having to walk 20 miles and more at times to spread the gospel. Either that or if they were blessed with a bicycle, travel that way. He decided that it would be his mission in part to provide them bicycles in order to spread the gospel easier and to be able to be a blessing to these Pastors. God has worked wonderfully. Pastor McKay was back in Tanzania a couple of weeks ago and  reported this:

“We arrived at Assedi’s apartment where we will be staying, and fellowshipped for a while. We then headed to downtown mwanza to exchange money into Tanzanian shillings for the week stay we will be here, and also to purchase bicycles for the pastors here.

A few months before I left I began raising money to purchase bicycles for evangelists who travel and preach the Gospel. I was able to raise $1500 and with that we were able to purchase 17 bicycles in total for them. The brothers here told me that buying a pastor or an evangelist a bicycle is the equivalent of purchasing him a Cadillac. They value them greater than we can imagine, and use them to spread the Gospel far and wide. We walked into a small bike shop and negotiated with the owner on the price. She finally came to a final price of $81.00 each. Here’s a picture of a few partly assembled.

Because we ordered 17 of them, they will have to assemble them over the next day or so and then we will have them delivered on the last day of the conference. It’s going to be a great day!

Would you be interested in contributing to the spreading of the gospel through raising money for bicycles? If you would please contact Vessel Of Honor Ministries here: VOHM

This is a contact page and Pastor McKay will get back to you when he can, but I can assure you that it is a worthy ministry and you will be helping to spread the gospel in a part of the world that greatly needs it. God bless you!

I am so thankful for the many hearts that are coming to Christ in the villages of India.  Thank you all for praying and standing with us to strengthen the men and women’s hands that daily reach out to lives, by travelling rough roads and daily looking for hearts to share Christ’s love with those who have not heard.Below is a daily report from Govinda Reddy and Isaiah, sharing some of their daily journey for Christ. A.W. Tozer : Truth that Seeks Lost People

Our Lord said, I am the Truth, and again He said, The Son of man is come to seek and to save that which was lost. Truth therefore is not hard to find for the very reason that it is seeking us. Truth is not a thing for which we must search, but a Person to whom we must hearken. This is taught or taken for granted in the record of Gods dealings with men throughout the Sacred Scriptures. After the sin in Eden it was not Adam who cried O God, where art Thou? but God who cried Where art thou? as He sought for Adam among the trees of the Garden. Abraham heard God speak and responded, but it was God who was the aggressor. God appeared unto Jacob before Jacob came to appear before God. And in the burning bush God revealed Himself to Moses. Again and again did God take the initiative. He sought for Gideon and found him on the threshing floor of Ophrah. He showed Himself to Isaiah when there is no evidence that Isaiah was seeking Him. Before Jeremiah was born God laid His hand upon him, and He opened heaven to let the discouraged priest Ezekiel see a vision and hear a voice. Amos said he was not a prophet neither a prophets son, but the Lord took him as he followed the flock. Again God was the aggressor. In the New Testament things are not otherwise. True, multitudes came to Christ for physical help, but only rarely did one seek Him out to learn the truth; and even that rare one usually turned away when the truth was told him. The whole picture in the Gospels is one of a seeking Savior, not one of seeking men. The truth was hunting for those who would receive it, and relatively few did. Many are called, but few are chosen.

Padlock on Shiva Temple!! by Pastor Kerry Mauldin

Our next to last day in the villages and we had 2 churches we dedicated, gave 1 well and 3 more churches!!  8 baptisms today and 66 baptisms last 3 weeks!!
I’ll start by sharing the last village!
Went to Thatikalli Village–Toddy tree Village–alcohol tree.  Met Pastor Satyam (Truth).  He came to Christ 8 years ago.  “Please, I am the only believer in my family, but tonight they are all gathered for you to share.”  We sat with his Mom, dad, Brother, aunts, uncles…room full.  These worship Shiva and the family has a temple outside the house on the road.
satyam shared that 8 years ago ge went to Ganges River and all big temples at age 32 looking for “Truth”.  He had no peace and only thought of suicide and death.  He had been married 12 years and had no children.
He walked barefoot 20 miles to SriSailam to worship Shive–covered with flowers and all family cheered him on.  Just wanted to die!!
He sold all his property and was left with nothing…
He was introduced to Jesus.  He had nothing in this world, so accepted Christ.  “Within 10 days my life was turned around.  I felt peace, no voice to kill myself, business and we had a baby, Divya “special one”.
Tonight, the whole family was in agreement that Satyam was totally different and they wanted to listen.  As we shared, they asked many probing questions.  At the end, the whole family prayed the prayer of salvation.  We all went outside and took family picture.  Satyam and his brother Siadalu, took oil and put a shield around that Shiva temple and satan can not cross the blood of Jesus.  All family had voiced their fear of turning from Shiva.  But they took huge step of faith.
We gave Prayer Shed and went to family roadside snack stand and prayed…
Amazing thing…the Shiva Temple had been locked with all shiva chains and worship things locked inside.  The god could not open the door or lock!!  But no door or stone could hold our Lord!!!
Subbareddygudem set the tone for the day.  We went to dedicate this small but good church!  About 100 packed inside full…. They listened and 3 times shared the Gospel as so many kept coming and all people would scruntch up closer so more could enter.  It rained all thru the day so no one could work in cotton fields.  So many came today to hear as they were free from the fields…   5 took baptism in barrel.  We could hardly manage as so many people!!
Gave bore well for water to Indupamala womens group. It will save 45 minutes per day walking to get water…  PLEASE!!!
We issued a challenge… “What will you do with all the free time saved? ather the women all together and write a plan how the water well will bless the village and also how it will help you win souls for Christ?  They took the challenge with joy!  This village Calvary AG gave for church in 2010 and today it is beautiful and finished!
These women fixed lunch and this village is 65% Christian and very clean for Indian village.
I shared with them the blessing of the lunch they gave and also that this is one of cleanest villages I’ve ever seen.  They were so so thankful and blessed.  They kept wanting to kiss my hand!    Blessing, but I have incredible wife sitting beside me!  Touched us both at the way that comment blessed those women!!
So thankful for the many souls today that heard the Gospel that had never heard before!
Today is fulfilling the purpose of this ministry..  Planting churches in new villages as first church in a village and sharing love of Christ.  So many good things, page of journal is so full…
One more village day!
With thanks, love and prayers!!

Update from Pastor Kerry Mauldin

Well of Blessing and Fleece of Faith

by Kerry Mauldin

Today was a bit more tedious.  This is the last of 9 days of Bakkamma Festival in hinduism.  They worship the female goddess with dancing, flowers, and all walk in parade with the flowers by candlelight and throw all into village water supply for fertility and blessing!  That was last night, then today so many drink and especially men laying all over in the roads…  We have to be careful which homes to go!
Went to Ilapuram Village to dedicate the only village well, drilled by Homestyle Asst. Living Home in Springdale, AR.
When drilled, villagers related the drilling company came about midnight to drill and dust was a cloud everywhere.  The hindu priest and village leaders came and said not to drill as there was no water here.  The 30 believers were in the small Prayer Shed fervently praying.  It went to 100′ deep and no water.  “We were all crying out to the Lord and village saying to stop drilling.”  When hit 120′, it hit a water that gushed 40 yards and all were in amazement and all villagers shared it was the power of their God!!
The closest neighbor who is hindu and never gone to church, but had accident 10 days ago and got steel rod in his foot, related all thgis to me as his heart was now open to hear the Gospel.  He has buffalo and oxen and wants Eternal Life, now has heard how to recieve—because a well gushed water on his land when he thought it impossible!!!
The first believer in the village is Lalithamma, 22 years.  She has led 50 families to Christ now.  She led us to her nephew, Bicksham-”Beggar”-laying on a cot in front of tiny hut at noon after drinking the night in festival to the demons.  He was alert and sat and listened to the Gospel.  He was finally persuaded and prayed the prayer of salvation!!!
Dedicated athe church in BB Gudem given by New River AG in AZ.
Dedicated Raynegudem given By San Jacinto in Amarillo-also a nice strong church…
Went to Snake Village–Pamalapadu–where pastor Emmanuel and wife and 3 sons do a good work.  They need a well as they only get water every 4 days for 15 minutes as there is a severe shortage at the small tank for the village and no wells.
She shared of the challenges and shared they were praying for faith that God would prompt my heart to help and drill a well.
We were sitting under a covering in the rain and dark as electric was off from the rain.  They shared when Dr. Mast and I last visited their home 6 years ago it also rained.  “Visit more often and water won’t be a problem , they shared”.
I thought to have some lighter fun, and shared that as Gideon wanted something from God, he put a fleece before God to build his faith.  I shared, “Let’s put a fleece before God about drilling this well since you are praying for faith…. If electric comes on in next 10 minutes, by 730 we will know…”
I appeared serious, but already knew we would drill.
At 728 the electric came on and they all jumped up shouting with joy and laughing and praising God!!
I was careful to make clear setting a fleece is not normally Gods way and He prefers we trust him and not try to force him with our way…
But it was a night of joy and fun!!
Berryville Christian Fellowship “Wellie” is now given!!
With so much love thanks and prayers,
Kerry and Melody

Stained glass at St John the Baptist's Anglica...

Stained glass at St John the Baptist’s Anglican Church http://www.stjohnsashfield.org.au, Ashfield, New South Wales. Illustrates Jesus’ description of himself “I am the Good Shepherd” (from the Gospel of John, chapter 10, verse 11). This version of the image shows the detail of his face. The memorial window is also captioned: “To the Glory of God and in Loving Memory of William Wright. Died 6th November, 1932. Aged 70 Yrs.” (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

This morning 630AM we went to Gedemetla church dedicated in 2009 in rock quarry area.  The church is running regular about 200 now and many children are fed daily and study after school…  There is excitement and vision to expand!  This was a joy since Roundup Cowboy Church in Antlers Ok helped build it even in the Cowboy churches first year of existence!  I was so glad Jonathon and Tammy could see their investment!!

The churches are coming up well and next 12 days are packed with dedications and inspecting new sites…

Yesterday we went to three villages and saw God at work in all 3.
Kollur Village, we set on the porch of a tiny home with many people gathered around to hear the Gospel.  This house belong to a hardworking couple who have simple jobs in the field at age 50.  The man is solid grey and he and wife have had 15 days of agony and searching for answers from God… as their gods haven’t answered!!
15 days ago their only child, a daughter 28, left the nearby place on bus to town with bag of red chilis.  She is “very pretty” and had many nice gold ornaments from her marriage.  People said the bus stopped and she was taken off and put in an auto… probably for her gold.  It has been 15 days.
Village people have no bank accounts, so wear their life savings around the neck in a gold necklace.  With price of gold…  Lord help Maheswari!!  Help her parents!!
Her Mom said clearly, “if this God brings my daughter, I will pull all the gods and serve Him.”  She took the challenge to ask God to speak to her…

In Kollur, 2 take baptism and it was a joy to watch so many many kids run the mile plus distance to the baptism site out in the field under the big trees.  They get so excited and bubble over with joy!  It is such a privilege to be around them, even though I’m still on crutches and running as fast as I can…but getting better!!

Chada Village–”SHELTER“  is the name the church has given for the town and church!  The town has no meaning in its name.  When I asked, they said, “We want it to mean Shelter.”   70-80 adult members have constructed a nice church right on main road.   It is the only church in town of 1000 families and has 2 mosques and 3 hindu temples!  The 35 Christian families are working hard on the church but had little vision beyond!!  We shared and encouraged them for almost 2 hours.  It was so needed and good…  Directly across the road are the hindu standing stones where they cut chickens to Ellamma, the rock goddess who brings “good luck”.
These villages have so much demonic as sacrifices are brought regularly to the demons who have such a lock and curse on so many lives…
This church can truly be a shelter with the loves of Jesus from the demonic in this village.

We went to a wealthy family in town to share.  They have 20 acres and the father 40′s was sick and very open to the Gospel!!

The last village blessed me by the zeal and excitement of 8 teen boys who hungered to share Christ.
When we came to Mogalipaka Village several months ago, the “red bush village” only had a small bamboo thatch church.  The pastor has a zeal and such bright alive eyes–you can see his heart.  These many teen boys have caught the contagious life from pastor.
They built a prayer shed that looked great, with concrete block walls and good roof!
We share salvation bracelets and those boys were all over that way of sharing Christ.  Not only did they hear and catch on, they pleaded for bracelets to use to share and withinhalf an hour, they were spread out sharing Christ in the village.  As we went to small houses, we could see them.
One of young men, his father 40 had a stroke so we went to pray.  The young man came to Christ 6 months ago, but today as he help the salvation bracelet and Gods hope, He got to pray with his bedridden father and sister (17 and pretty and sharp girl who then asked for a Bible!!

It is awesome joy to see zeal in the teens and give them 5 Salvation bracelets each to share Christ!!

5 Braclet Day

News from Pastor Kerry Mauldin

Eyes and ears opened!!

Kerry Mauldin
Today many many accept Christ!!
So many homes and so many hearts were open to the Gospel today and God showed up and showed off!!!
We gave for a church in Karanthinager where a whole family accepted Christ and gave land to build…
A real joy is going to Karamadella Village where 14 years ago my Mom and Dad gave for one of first churches we have been part of to be built.  Mom drove a school bus 25 years and her chjeck so often went to missions!!!
This is a big village, and Govinda Reddy, our cworker for 16 years, came here when he was kicked out of his home village after accepting Christ…disowned…
In karamaddela, all said today, “We all know Govinda Reddy, he is a good man and helps many.”  He is 54 and broke his hip last year in motor scooter accident and in recovery, was in 3 wheeler acciodent and broke collar bone…tough year on Indian roads.
But today, home after home people gathered and heard the Gospel because they know what is in Govinda’s heart and thus are ready to hear.
One3 man, ChinnaVenkatReddy,65, stood and shared that 4 months ago he was boozer and smoked cigars.  He gave his heart to Christ and if you could see the joy in his face.  Govinda led him to Christ and together they took us to homes.
At Chinnas home,  his wife 35, stood and told how he was heavy boozer and now life is completely different.  She was 15 when Chinnas wife died and she was married to 45 year old man.  A pretty young woman with true joy now in her heart.  So many wanted to hear because of what they saw in Chinnas life!!!  He was so exccited and telling everyone.
One woman came in and was blind and deaf and suffering with headaches.  As Melody shared the Gospel, sing salvation bracelets, that woman began tugging at her eyes and ears.  She stood excited that she could both hear and see—as Gospel was shared!!
We know it will open ears and eyes (thought that was spiritual, but is also physical!!!  PTL!!!  So many people wanted to hear and recieve…  So many step up for prayer!
We prayed for so many people today, such hunger!!
Went to school for children 4-20 age today.  As we set there, you want to cry as we see these 40 young people with profound disabilities respond the best they can and know, —God loves and has a plan for these kids from the villages that have little hope in this world–accept thru Christ!!  They did nothing to deserve the challenges they face, but then I think of Chinnu, the former drunken boozer who easted so so much of life, but now has such joy and is seeing God’s incredible love and mercy!!
Today as I shared the Gospel, 2 times especially, I wanted tocryu and did as I shared,  “FOR GOD SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE HIS ONLY SON, THAT WHOSOEVER BELIEVES IN HIM, SHALL NOT PERISH BUT HAVE EVERLASTING–ETERNAL LIFE!!!
This so came alive to me in such a fresh way!!
Went to Pangarangapuram and shared 2 “services” with large groups and so many lives touched and prayed.  Last house, the father gave a celebration…  His only son, last Feb we prayed he would gedt a good job.  Next week he will start a job in Delhi at 20,000rs per month!!  Great salary!!!
But this father, even giving thanks to Jesus, —in other room had alter and idols to many gods.  “I worship all gods equal, he said”….  This blessing will not last when you try to serve 2 masters.  His wife with tears stood in front of son and father and after herself praying prayer of salvation, said, “I will pray, he will change and those gods will come down…”  PTL!!
We must never give up, know God hears and answers prayers and PRAISE GOD, He shows up and shows off when the GOOD NEWS is being shared!!
We better have that urgency!!
Love and so appreciate you all!!  Thank you for praying!!
Kerry, Melody, Jonathon and Tammy and many from India…

The Cure For Spiritual Blindness (via Samuel at Gilgal)

The Cure For Spiritual Blindness Think about comparing your heart to a dirty room that's been shut up for years. Inside this room, there has been no light. Now inside the room there is dirt, dust, and cobwebs everywhere. Suddenly, someone comes in and turns a light on. The spiders and roaches run to hide. The cobwebs, dirt, and dust are now visible and it is evident that the room must be cleaned out. The human heart is in a similar condition. Our own dirty, rotten, fallen nature … Read More
