Press Release from The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association on the 2nd Amendment
“The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association supports the Constitution and the 2nd Amendment rights of our citizens’. We recognize the recent increase in violence and mass shootings have raised questions relating to the sale and possession of firearms. The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association further believes that we must hold offenders responsible, not law abiding citizens.
The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association does support enforcement of the existing gun laws and the strengthening of current back ground checks including identifying individuals with mental health issues. The Arkansas Sheriff’s Association does not support legislation that restricts current gun possession or sales to our citizens that weakens our 2nd Amendment rights.
Thanks to Johnson County Sheriff, Jim Dorney, for the heads up!

The Tricks of the Magician

Ephesians 4:27

Have you ever watched a magician? It is amazing at how fast their hands are and at how good they are at the art of distraction! While we watch one hand they are doing something totally different with their other hand. As children we think that they are really performing magic, as adults most of us realize what they are doing and yet still admire their skill and ability, even if we are not sure how they do it. That is the thing, we recognize that it is not real, that it is simply illusion. And yet it seems that more and more people are not recognizing the illusions of this world and are simply accepting them as fact.

Update on Agenda 21 Alert for Clinton, Ar. via Secure Arkansas
I got a comment from someone who understands the problems with this and some of the questions that need answers. I am posting the comment with permission and the hope that there are others out there who also understand the problems.
This is a act that is a act brought upon by the clean water activist in the country. My name is not enclosed for privacy however I run cattle near these farmers on this area of the red river it will not only exclude them of there natural rights to there land and it’s resources but set back logging production and the natural gas that supplies much of the needed money in the Economy for this small community. However do to commits and letters sent into the u.s. game and fish “which is a different branch than Arkansas game and fish commission” has set the dead line back on it to may of this year
Questions that needed to be asked
•after the Yellowcheek darter has been on the endangered list for almost 10 years why is it such a up roar now?
• why must the cattleman in Arkansas and hunter and fishers leave the natural rights to fish or hunt or graze there land?
•why isn’t the dam in greers ferry taken into review to see if they can help without making the average land owner suffer for this?
•why is cattle two catagories of harming this species won’t other natural animals still stir water and drink from these same rivers are cattle can not?
• who will pay for the bridges and fences needed to keep cattle out?
There are a lot of good questions here, but I would like to point out a few other things. The farmers and ranchers who will suffer, are just the beginning of the suffering. It spreads out from here to all of us that eat food or transport food. It makes it scarcer and it drives the price up because of this. How many people are going to have to make drastic changes in their diet because of this? How many people are going to go hungry, or worse, because they can not afford to feed themselves or their families. If you think that being able to provide for yourself or your family is important, you had better start paying attention and perhaps start asking some hard questions about what the government intends for our future. And whether you consider yourself a patriot or not, is beside the point. This is about our ability to survive.

The U. S. Fish and Wildlife Service will have a public meeting for their proposed designation of the Yellowcheek Darter to the endangered species list. This affects the following five counties in Arkansas: Cleburne, Pope, Searcy, Stone and Van Buren. This covers approximately 87,000 acres directly adjacent to the habitat streams of the Yellowcheek Darter. You must protect your property rights at all costs and not sign up for ANY GOVERNMENT PROGRAM. The following documents cover the details the U. S. Fish and Wildlife would like for all property owners to sign up for:
.
Programmatic Safe Harbor Agreement and Programmatic Candidate Conservation Agreement with Assurances
(The first three links here are undergoing maintenance and should be available by February 18.)
The 63 public submissions listed for the Yellowcheek Darter
The Federal Register lists the Proposed rule change for adding Proposed Designation of Critical Habitat for the Cumberland Darter, Rush Darter, Yellowcheek Darter, Chucky Madtom, and Laurel Dace. For Arkansas it is only the Yellowcheek Darter.
Additional sites show the government caused the problem with the Yellowcheek Darter when they constructed Geer’s Ferry Reservoir.
The historic range has been impacted by the construction of Greer’s Ferry Reservoir and channel alterations in the Archey and South Forks. Further, the construction of Greer’s Ferry Reservoir has resulted in the permanent loss of habitat due to inundation and cold-water releases from the dam.

Agenda 21 alert for Arkansas (via Secure Arkansas)
Dear friends,
The Army Corps of Engineers is hosting five public workshops in February on its proposal for cost-cutting changes at its parks, according to a news release. Please see the announcement below for information on the Army Corps of Engineers public workshops being held in February.
If anyone in Secure Arkansas can attend any of these meetings near you, please do so and let us know what occurs at the meetings. If you are a Secure Arkansas director, please make it a point to attend one of these meetings because we simply cannot afford not to. We must be there. This will pertain to Agenda 21.
The Corps’ Little Rock District is considering changing operations at 29 parks, including closing 13 campgrounds, four partial campgrounds, four day-use areas, one partial day-use area and nine boat ramps.
The district’s operation and maintenance budget has been cut by about $17 million this year, the news release said. The already-proposed recreation changes will reduce costs by an estimated $1.9 million annually.
Also under consideration are ideas to shorten the season at many parks and reducing the frequency of trash pickup, cleaning and mowing and other maintenance work. The district expects to hire fewer temporary park rangers and contract park attendants as well.
There will be no group presentations during the workshops, but members of the public are invited to talk individually with Corps representatives. Workers will also accept written comments at the workshops.
Workshops will be held at:
Clearwater Lake, 1 to 4 p.m., Feb. 9, Clearwater Project Office adjacent to Clearwater Dam in Piedmont, Missouri
Greers Ferry Lake, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 9, William Carl Garner Visitor Center on Arkansas 25 North, just west of Greers Ferry Dam near Heber Springs
Lake Nimrod, Lake Dardanelle and Toad Suck Ferry and Murray pools of the Arkansas River, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 14, Russellville Project Office at 1598 Lock and Dam Road in Russellville
Ozark Lake, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 16, Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative at 1811 W. Commercial St. in Ozark
Bull Shoals and Norfork lakes, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 5 to 7 p.m., Feb. 21, Mountain Home Project Office at 324 W. Seventh St. in Mountain Home
More information about proposed changes to specific recreation areas is available on the website of the Corps’ Little Rock District.

WHO IS VAN THOMAS ??? (via Secure Arkansas)
A Patriot from Secure Arkansas
sent this information to us.
He was doing research on grants at the local level…
VERY interesting information.
It’s long but worth reading.
Van Thomas, Director of the White River Planning andDevelopment District, is connected to several other corporations where he is the Registered Agent. In doing some investigation with the Sec. of State, I found that Van Thomas is also the Director of the White River Regional Service Center and the White River Regional Management Corporation. Van Thomas is also the Director of Thomas & Thomas Construction , LLC. Another thing I discovered is that Fulton County Judge Charles Willet is the Secretary and Treasurer of the White River RegionalManagement Corporation. Some of the other officers of the White River Regional Management Corporation are Heber Springs Mayor, Jackie McPherson, a Director, and Woodruff County Judge, Charles Dallas, who is the Vice President. The officers of the White River Regional Planning and Development District are Independence County Judge, Robert Griffin, a Director, Cleburne County Judge, Claude Dill, the President, Sharp County Judge, Larry Brown, a Director and Izard County Judge, David Sherrel, a Director.
If you check out http://www.wrpdd.org you will also find that all the county judges and several mayors are part of the governing board of the White River Planning and Development District, Inc.
Most, if not all, of the grants coming through the White River Regional Development District are to implement Sustainable Development. Does anyone think that these guys are doing this for FREE?
Is this how they get Sustainable Development Implemented into our communities?

Arkansas Association of Resource Conservation
and Development Councils, Inc.
Almost 40 years ago, Congress established a unique program within the U.S. Department of Agriculture that empowered rural people to help themselves. The USDA focus was to assist local people by providing tools and technical support to stabilize and grow their own communities while protecting and developing natural resources. In return , local “Councils” provide local direction and planning and coordinate implementation of specific projects within their boundaries.
RC&D is a local grass roots organization whose leadership comes from its sponsors, Conservation Districts and Local units of Government. The decision making body, called a
Council, determines the social, economic, and environmental problems and issues relevant to the area. The Council then develops and implements a plan with local citizens in leadership. The RC&D concept is that local communities, all levels of government, and grassroots organizations, working together, can develop and implement solutions to widespread and local problems and develop opportunities that will help sustain rural communities, local economies, and natural resources.
RC&D serves as a catalyst for local groups to share knowledge and resources in a collective effort to solve common problems.
The combination of local leadership and coordination of state and federal resources is an efficient and effective way for communities to cooperatively support and achieve local goal. This focus on local direction and control has made RC&D one of the most successful rural development efforts in the country.
There are 7 Resource Conservation and Development areas which cover the entire state of Arkansas.
The Secretary of Agriculture provides a full time RC&D Coordinator to help the councils find various resources needed to plan and implement specific acitons desired for the area.

Arkansas Ladies
Gail went to the Pulaski Country Democrat Women’s meeting Tuesday. The topic was the
Arkansas “conceal carry law.” One of the speakers related the following story:
On the way to the previous monthly meeting an elderly lady was stopped by a highway
patrolman. He asked for her driver’s licence and insurance. The lady took out the required
information and handed it to the patrolman.
In with the cards, he was surprised to see she had a “conceal carry permit.” He looked at her
and asked if she had a weapon in her possession at this time. She responded that she indeed
had .45 automatic in her glove box. Something, body language or the way she said it, made him
want to ask if she had any other firearms.
She did admit to also having a 9mm Glock in her center console. So now he had to ask one more
time if that was all she had, and she responded that she did have just one more, a .38 special
in her purse.
The officer then asked her what was she so afraid of?
She looked him right in the eye and said, “Not a damn thing!”
Thanks to my best friend for this post! As an Arkansas Lady myself I want to say HooRah!!!!

Prayers For Denning, Arkansas
Please keep Denning, Arkansas in your prayers! It is a very small town of about two hundred seventy people about ten miles from my home. It was pretty much destroyed and at least three deaths when a mile wide tornado went through it. We have friends and family that live close, but so far no one that we know has been hurt. There is not much left! Thank you!

A Childs Memory
I don’t often do posts about my childhood, personally there is just too much that I would rather forget. But reading a friends post this morning reminded me of how many times God was watching over me, and protected me from harm.I grew up traveling from place to place across the United States. We seldom stayed in one place very long. Part of this was because my step-father just did not keep a job very long.
When I was twelve we lived in the country in a small town in Arkansas. My step-father was driving a truck at the time, but part of the price of renting the house we lived in was taking care of the cows. That was one of my responsibilities. I would get up early in the morning, milk the one cow that had a calf, and feed the others. Before I would go to bed at night, I did the same thing.
I enjoyed doing it, I always loved animals. The milk cow was cantankerous and you had to be sure you had your head up against her body so that she could not put her foot into the bucket, or step on you. If she did step in the bucket, the milk was ruined. We never had enough money that we could afford to do without that milk. Especially since there were five of us kids with the youngest being about six months old to me as the oldest.
The cow always had to be put in the barn at night, and most of the time it was pretty easy to get her into it. One night it was different though. No matter how hard I tried, she simply would not go. I think that I chased her over the whole forty acres before I gave up and went and told my mom and step-father that I couldn’t get her into the barn. My step-father was angry, but he tried to find her but couldn’t do it in the dark.
The next morning I had no problem with her, but my step-father saw something that I missed. Not ten feet away from where I had been milking, there were tracks of a very large cat. They thought at first that it was a couger, and he and the owner of the property decided that they would have to hunt it and kill it before it killed one of the calves. They tracked it for the whole day and saw it once. It was a very large black panther.
Why it didn’t attack a very vulnerable twelve year old girl could only be because God was watching over me. When I look back on my childhood, I see many times that He was watching out for me. We live our lives so often in mortal danger that we don’t even recognize.
Why did God protect me when so many others have lost their lives? I don’t know the answer to that, but I thank Him that He did.
