A Crunchy Good Time In Kuching

Also known as prawn fritters, this snack is made out of small prawns embedded in tasty batter before being deep-fried, which makes for an addictive crunch each time you take a bite.

Of course, prawn fritters aren’t at all an exclusive dish to the state of Sarawak but Kuching does have a decent selection of the crunchy albeit oily snack.

Prawn Fritters/Cucur Udang

Cucur Udang is often sold on their own, or together with other similarly deep-fried snacks like tofu, sausages, skewered chicken tail, fish balls, and so on. In Kuching city, Old Rex Cucur Udang Cafe has some of the best Cucur Udang in town, and their savoury deep-fried treats have been keeping a steady stream of locals coming back for years.

Along with the offerings of prawn fritters and co., other meal options found in this coffee shop also include Belacan Bee Hoon, Rojak, and various signature drinks such as Ais Kacang, Ngo Mi Teng (literally translated as five flavour soup or 五味汤), etc.
