Prayer Request from a Friend

A friend of ours here on the blogs, Right Hook,  is asking for prayer for her sister “My sister has been fighting breast cancer for about a year. She responded so well to treatment, and they thought they got it all after surgery. The last couple of months, she’s been having a lot of hip and back pain. She got some new scans today, and was devastated to learn that it is now in her bones, and all through her body. It has become very aggressive, and it is literally eating away at her bones. They are so fragile, the doctors said they could just snap. Her condition is “guarded”, and they are starting radiation tomorrow. This is in God’s hands. I would so appreciate your prayers.”

Please take time to pray for her! This is devastating news for all of them, but we know that our God can work miracles.

Psalm 6

King James Version (KJV)

6 O Lord, rebuke me not in thine anger, neither chasten me in thy hot displeasure.

Have mercy upon me, O Lord; for I am weak: O Lord, heal me; for my bones are vexed.

My soul is also sore vexed: but thou, O Lord, how long?

Return, O Lord, deliver my soul: oh save me for thy mercies’ sake.

For in death there is no remembrance of thee: in the grave who shall give thee thanks?

I am weary with my groaning; all the night make I my bed to swim; I water my couch with my tears.

Mine eye is consumed because of grief; it waxeth old because of all mine enemies.

Depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity; for the Lord hath heard the voice of my weeping.

The Lord hath heard my supplication; the Lord will receive my prayer.

10 Let all mine enemies be ashamed and sore vexed: let them return and be ashamed suddenly.

Disabled Baby Will Walk, Talk After Parents Rejected Abortion | LifeNews.com

Disabled Baby Will Walk, Talk After Parents Rejected Abortion | LifeNews.com.

The Boston Globe has a report on an amazing story of a couple who rejected an abortion of their very disabled baby and are glad they did so.

“Dominic Pio Gundrum was born with a rare disorder in which part of his brain was exposed,” the newspaper reports. Despite suggestions to have an abortion, the parents chose not to and, following surgeries, doctors now say he will walk and talk.

Mary Gundrum, 20 weeks pregnant, was excited when an ultrasound revealed that she was going to have a baby boy. Then she looked closer and said, “What’s that in front of his face?”

“That,” the doctor replied somberly, “is a problem.”

The news was grim. The fetus had an encephalocele, a rare disorder in which part of the brain was exposed, covered in skin, outside the head. In this case, the brain was growing down into the roof of the mouth and protruding onto the face.

If Gundrum decided to continue the pregnancy, she and her husband, Mark, were told, the baby might not make it to birth. Or he might be born, but die a few hours later. Or he might be severely disabled. Read the rest at Disabled Baby Will Walk, Talk After Parents Rejected Abortion | LifeNews.com.

Thought for the Day

“Do you believe that He would send those men out to preach the gospel to every creature unless He wanted every creature to be saved? Do you believe He would tell them to preach it to people without giving people the power to accept it? Do you believe the God of heaven is mocking men by offering them His gospel and not giving them the power to take hold of it? Do you believe He will not give men power to accept this salvation as a gift? Man might do that, but God never mocks me. And when He says “Preach the gospel to every creature,” every creature can be saved if he will.” D.L. Moody

Family Security Matters— Making Little Murderers

This story is a reminder that our children are being manipulated and altered with drugs to fit into a box that suits the teachers and caregivers, whether they are parents or someone else. I am sorry if I step on someones feet here and please do not think that I do not understand parents dealing with children that have been diagnosed with ADD/ADHD. I have two sons that were diagnosed with ADHD. They wanted to treat them with drugs. I investigated and asked around to see if there were alternatives. I discovered that there were several, one was to keep the child occupied with something that required concentration, such as working with models. Another was finding someone who they could trust to spend time talking with them where they could be free to express their thoughts without judgment and knew that that person would keep their conversation private. Since schools do not allow Christ in them anymore, they do not have that extra resource that children used to be able to rely upon. They have no moral grounding, they are not even allowed to question in a lot of instances. They are told to sit down, shut up, sit quietly, do not ask questions, and above all do not question your teacher even if you know they are wrong. These are how children are treated in a lot of schools where there is control of the situation. In other schools, the teachers have no control at all. The children spend their time bullying their fellow classmates, playing games, or whatever else occupies their mind.

Children need structure, they need discipline and that need something to anchor them. Without God in our schools there is none of that. Instead, they spend too much time alone, playing video games that teach them that death is only an illusion. If they die in the game they just get a new life. When this is what they learn from very young children, it doesn’t take much to see children who are on mind altering drugs, thinking that they are living the video games that they play. When you have no connection to reality, your reality is what you connect to the most. Please take the time to read this post from Alan Caruba at Family Security Matters.

Making Little Murderers

by ALAN CARUBA

If anything good comes from the Newtown massacre, it will be a national discussion of the role of various psychological medications that have been foisted on a generation or two of young Americans in the nation’s schools. Particularly dangerous have been a group called Selective Serotonin Reuptake Inhibitors (SSRIs).

While the White House and other gun-banning groups grab the spotlight by putting the blame on guns, columnist Dr. Jerome R. Corsi recently reported that SSRIs have played a role in “some 90 percent of school shootings over more than a decade…according to British psychiatrist Dr. David Healy, a founder of RxISK.org, an independent website for researching and reporting on prescription drugs.”

A visit to one of Dr. Healey’s websites, ssristories.com, provides more than 4,800 news stories involving some level of violence in which antidepressants are mentioned. SSRIs include Prozac, Zoloff, Paxil, Celexa, Lexapro, and Luvox. Others include Remeron, Anafranil, Effexor, Cymbalta, and Pristiq, as well as the dopamine reuptake inhibitor antidepressant Wellbutrin, marketed as Zyban. If you listen closely to television ads for medications to stop smoking and address other problems, you will hear warnings about the way they can cause serious mental disabilities.

In a recent article onCanadaFreePress.com,Tom DeWeese, the president of the American Policy Center, a grassroots activist think tank, he said that “Today more than 7,000,000 children have been labeled, tamped and registered as permanent patients of the school system; 10 to 12 percent of all boys between the ages of 6 and 14 in the United States have been diagnosed as having ADD (Attention deficit disorder). One in every 30 Americans between the ages of 5 and 19 years old has a prescription for Ritalin.” The corollary diagnosis is ADHD, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.

Think of it is millions of tiny time bombs in the schools and banning certain kinds of guns or limiting how many bullets can be in a clip has nothing to do with the mental illness that causes mass murders.

For a decade I was the communications director for the American Policy Center and was appalled to learn how the nation’s educational system had been altered from schools that concentrated on academics to schools whose purpose was behavior modification. In 1965, the passage of the Elementary and Secondary Act opened the doors to a legion of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and “the psychiatric programs and testing needed to validate them.”

DeWeese reported that “To date, there has never been issued a single peer-reviewed scientific paper officially claiming to prove ADD/ADHD exists.

John Piper on prophecy via Adrian Warnock

John Piper on prophecy.

By

John Piper has been sharing a series of short videos on him speaking about the gifts of the Spirit. The first was on tongues. I now want to share what he had to say on prophecy. Here are some excerpts to whet your appetite:

“I have been significantly influenced by Wayne Grudem’s book on prophecy . . .I think our tendency is to despise what the New Testament treats as prophecy . . . Prophecy in the New Testament doesn’t seem to have the same scripture quality, inerrant, inspiration and authority . . . you don’t go up to Isaiah and say I am going to test what you say . . . but you do do that with New Testament prophecy. . . Prophecy in the New Testament seems to be down a notch from prophecy in the old testament and is exposed to testing. . . God brining something to mind that you would not otherwise have thought of in the moment for the sake of upbuilding, encouragement, consolation. . . the way I personally appropriate this for myself . . . I pray as I am sitting there, God grant me a gift of prophecy in this preaching . . . bring to my mind things about yourself, and about this text, and about the truth,  and about this people that I will be able to say in such a way that they will pierce with unusual, I might say, prophetic power into their lives. . . it happens very regularly that people say “have you been reading my mail, you looked at me and you said”  I didn’t even know that I was looking at you . . . I was preaching on small groups . . .and I looked to my left and said “you might be working on the 34th floor of the IDS tower, maybe you should call people together and have a small group. . . a woman comes up afterwards and said “I work on that floor and I have been praying about whether to start a small group.”

Thought for the Day

We can only do one of two things: Give them Jesus or give them wasted sewage. We can either point the way to the Way or confuse them with a load of things that will never feed their need for God. There is a place for doctrines and dogma and science and history and apologetics, but these things are not Jesus — they are humanly manufactured attempts to make people think that having the right ideas is the same thing as loving and following Jesus.  Carl Medearis

For Such a Time as This: Life Lessons from the Book of Esther

The Book of Esther in Review

What a tremendous book we have just completed! Not only is it a great story with all the drama and elements that a novel would contain, but it contains great lessons about how we should be living, conducting ourselves on the job, facing opposition, facing success, and looking ahead confidently to the future. Most importantly, it is the best “textbook” of the Scriptures about the providence of God, and how He works in the perfect way and the perfect timing to accomplish His purposes.

We began in the winter capitol of the Persian EmpireSusa, where we also concluded the story.Pride, lust, alcoholism, and the pursuit of power and dominance marked the Empire’s ruler, Ahasuerus (Xerxes). Ahasuerus sought to gain support for his campaign against Greece and then onward into Europe. However, his foolish partying cost him his marriage, and although Queen Vashti lost her crown, she kept her dignity as she refused the king’s immoral drunken orders. God used this providentially however to begin arranging His chess pieces for what He planned to do.

When Ahasuerus attacked Greece, despite all odds being on his side, he was badly beaten and returned to Susa in shame and depression, missing the wife he had divorced. His advisors hooked onto this, and began a search for all the beautiful virgins of the land to be brought to the king so he could find a substitute for Vashti. These women were sadly taken from their homes to never return again, but to be the concubines of the king. Again God was working providentially in this, for this also allowed Esther to get into the place He had for her to make a dramatic impact for Him.She was selected by the king as Vashti’s replacement, and this would be vital in the long run.

Parsing Killing With Impunity and Manufacturing Monsters via Public Catholic

This post from Rebecca Hamilton is a must read. You have to ask yourself, where does it stop? Already the courts have decided that women are exempt from the same laws that men are punished for. As if they somehow are endowed with more intelligence and caring so that what ever decision they would make would be for the good of the child that she carries in her womb. Evidence has shown that this is simply not true and the callous killing of their babies that horrifies so many of us, if now being extended in so many places.  Who, in this new world, will be granted the ability to decide who is worthy of life and who  is unworthy?

Parsing Killing With Impunity and Manufacturing Monsters.

In case you were wondering, the devil is at work all over the world, not just here in America.

One case in point is a suggested revision to Dutch statutes that I mentioned in an earlier post to allow medical personnel to euthanize minors and Alzheimer’s sufferers. Ironically, these are two groups of people who are considered incompetent to make most legal decisions for themselves. The proposed law was drafted in part by Senator Philippe Mahoux.

Our world is so spiritually sick that we try to parse and channel legalized murder. We have laws that point to one group of people and say in effect, “you may kill them with impunity” then, we have other laws that point to another group of people and say “if you kill them it is an atrocity.”

Well, which is it? Is it an atrocity to kill the innocent, or is it something we may do with impunity? Read the rest from Rebecca Hamilton at Public Catholic at Patheos.com!

The History of the United States of America is extraordinarily rich with detail and interwoven themes, that over the decades, have been watered down for simplicity’s sake. There are still a few who argue against the Christian origins of our nation and the lofty vision of the Founders to succeed in honest and free self government.

For example, clearly, at the time the Founders shut themselves off to convene in order to form a more “perfect union,” many of these Founders owned slaves, so what kind of morality is that? Such hypocrisy, you say! Well, wait just a minute before you pass judgement. Who hasn’t driven a…

Iranian officials out of Tehran believe the explosion was the result of sabotage.

Rumors of this being pulled off by Israel are already circulating. Israel has been an outspoken opponent of Iran becoming nuclear capable, and in 1981 Israel was able to dismantle Iraq’s nuclear program through a bombing raid — known as Operation Opera – on largely centralized, above ground facilities.

REPENT! TURN AWAY FROM SIN.

What will the series investigate? What happens when people have no shame? With the technology we have, we get a proliferation of disgusting videos. Here are several.

This video celebrates 40 years of abortions. H/T:  Why the Tides are Turning Pro-Life from Biltrix.

Next we have a video that describes a political activist. H/T: Meet Dan Savage: Bully In Chief from THE FAMILY FOUNDATION BLOG.

Finally, we have an example of how voter fraud works.  H/T: Senator Dick Black (see SENATOR DICK BLACK SEE SOME PROGRESS).

What do we do about such behavior? Ultimately, we have to persuade people to read the Bible and seek the grace of God. That, however, requires us to convince them first that they are actually doing something wrong. With respect to making the case for life, here, from Focus on the Family, is one man’s idea…
